Two Great Banks. One Exciting Future.

First Citizens BancShares And CIT Group Announce
Partnership To Create Top 20 U.S. Bank Based On Assets.

You may have seen some exciting news about First Citizens recently. If not, let us be the first to tell you: We’ve announced an upcoming merger with CIT Group to create a top 20 U.S. bank based on assets.

Once the merger is complete, we’ll still be First Citizens, we’ll still bring the same level of personal service we’re known for, and we’ll still be headquartered in Raleigh. The things our customers love and trust about First Citizens aren’t changing. What will change is the additional experience, products and services that CIT brings to the combined company. Together, we’ll be able to do even more to help you.

Not Just A Bigger Bank, An Even Better Bank.
CIT complements what First Citizens already delivers today. Both banks have strong reputations for customer service, taking care of their associates and working to advance the communities they serve. Those are important.

After the merger is effective, First Citizens will be one of the top 20 U.S. banks with over $100 billion in assets. The combined company will have a greater ability to create new products and new services to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families, businesses, investors – everyone who counts on us to keep an eye on their finances and their wellbeing.

CIT also operates more than 60 branches in Southern California under the OneWest Bank name. The merger will give us a greater ability to serve customers in this important region.

A Bank You Can Count On. Today And Tomorrow.
As you can probably tell, we’re excited about everything this merger offers. Our strength in retail banking, small business banking and wealth management – driven by our network of 550 branches – and CIT’s leadership in online and commercial banking will create a true one-stop banking destination for any family or any company.

We’ll of course keep you up to date as we move toward the merger. Along the way, you won’t notice any change in your service and there’s nothing you need to do. Other than joining us in looking forward to a bright future together.
