(the “Company”) filed a provisional patent application (the “Patent Application”) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the use of one of its current portfolio therapeutics to treat and prevent lung inflammation in patients suffering from a respiratory viral infection, such as that caused by coronoaviruses. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, acute respiratory distress syndrome, kidney failure and even death. The Patent Application seeks to secure patent protection for the oral and intravenous administrations of the Company’s therapeutic to treat SARS-CoV.
